Trail Food, Rice Recipes for Camping and Hiking
Rice Recipes: Trail food, Camping Food, Hiking Food. Rice is a staple food for two-thirds of the world's people, especially in Asia and Africa. It can be savory and spicy in one meal, creamy and cheesy in another, and sweet and fluffy or crunchy in yet another. Rice is also nutritious, lightweight, durable and inexpensive - qualities important to backcountry travelers. The biggest downside to rice as a trail food, is that it takes 20 minutes or more to cook. You can reduce this time, by presoaking rice in water (to carry in you backpack), or you can use “minute rice” for some recipes.
